Chicken Nanban (チキン南蛮) is no doubt one of the most popular dishes back in Japan, while people outside of Japan may not have heard of it. Needless to say, Japan is very well known for its natural produce and the quality of its meat. This dish is originally from the Miyazaki prefecture which is well known for its quality of chicken. However, due to the popularity of the dish, it has become a household dish and served all around the country.
The chicken Nanban consists of fried chicken which is soaked in sweet and sour sauce and covered with a generous amount of Tartar sauce. In the Miyazaki prefecture where the dish is originally from, the dish tends to have a more more sour taste from the vinegar. However, in the rest of the country, the sweet and sour sauce tends to be much sweeter (We recommend the milder and sweeter version of the dish).
